THURSDAY INTENSIVE, AUGUST 22 ~ 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm in Classroom Building B "Using the Fertility Awareness Method in Your Herbal Practice" Ideal for herbalists and other health care professionals, this class offers insights into the Fertility Awareness Method to assess hormonal balance. Managing fertility without artificial hormones can be challenging, and becomes much easier with the Fertility Awareness Method techniques. Fertility Awareness can be an amazing tool to work with health issues such as flooding, dysmenorrhea, problem pregnancies, miscarriages, infertility, mid cyclebleeding, amenorrhea, menopause, PMS, cyclic migraines and acne. Herbal protocols will be addressed and Elaine will go over her simple “Menstrual Map” tool used to address reproductive health issues. We will also address hormonal manufacture, transport and balance, reproductive tissue support, and supporting other organ systems essential for reproductive well-being. This is amazing information to add to a practitioner’s toolbox. Join herbalist Elaine Sheff for an in-depth exploration of this scientifically proven method of using natural fertility signs to track the cycle, assess hormonal health, and avoid or achieve pregnancy.
Goals and Objectives: The participant will be able to determine when a woman can and cannot get pregnant and apply simple rules to either conceive or avoid pregnancy. The applied information about a woman’s cycle can also be used in miscarriage and hormone balancing. Materia Medica: reproductive antispasmodics, emmenagogues, hormone balancers, phyto-estrogens, progesterone encouraging herbs, uterine astringents, and reproductive tonics. A list can be provided upon request. Each student will get a packet of information.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 23 ~ 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm in Classroom Building B "Tree Medicine: Bud, Resin Leaf and Bar" Trees provide food and shelter, absorb carbon dioxide, and generously give us oxygen. GENERAL TRACK FRIDAY, AUGUST 26 ~ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm in Auditorium A "Natural Treatments for Super Bugs" With the use, and misuse, of antibiotics has come the increase of drug resistant microorganisms. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) threatens the effective prevention and treatment of an ever-increasing range of infections caused by bacteria, parasites, and fungi. These pathogens are scary and hard to treat with pharmaceuticals. Plants to the rescue! Herbs and essential oils can be extremely useful to fight off antibiotic resistant microorganisms including MRSA, VRSA and ESBL. Join herbalist Elaine Sheff as she discusses ways we can effectively protect ourselves, our families, and our clients from these “super bugs.” GENERAL TRACK SATURDAY, AUGUST 27 ~ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm in Auditorium A "The Menstrual Map: In-Depth Tools for Hormone Balancing" Many people do not have an extensive knowledge about how the female reproductive hormone cycle works. This knowledge is key when treating issues such as infertility, PMS, amenorrhea, irregular cycles and menopausal imbalances. Let’s take an in-depth look at the cycle, using some simple tools to gather the information we need to effectively balance the hormones without expensive or invasive testing. We will then explore how to apply herbs more accurately to an emerging, cohesive picture of the imbalance. This class is a must for any herbalist working with female reproductive health issues..
