She is the author of the book ~ The Good Living Guide to Natural and Herbal Remedies. Katolen is an instructor and clinic supervisor at Dominion Herbal College, adjunct faculty at Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine and regularly offers seminars to the general public. Katolen is the Vice President of the Canadian Council of Herbalist Associations (CCHA) and a second term president of the Canadian Herbalist's Association of BC (CHA of BC). From 1998 until 2015 Katolen appeared monthly on a nationally syndicated morning news program in Canada, where she offered herbal information to the public. We will focus on some key medicinal plants and understand their application of use from traditional use, to current scientific studies. We explore the role plants have played and still play in the creation of specific pharmaceutical medicine. You will leave with a greater appreciation for plant medicine and the important role botanicals play in todays’ health care and society.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 26 ~ 9:00 am - 10:30 am "Herbs as Edibles and Kitchen Foods as Medicine" We will explore the use of tonic herbs as delicious and nutritious edibles added into daily food recipes, including herbal vinegars, snacks, nutrition bars and desserts. We will cover some general actions of these herbs, chemical constituents, dosage and therapeutic applications of herbal ingredients, benefits of powdered herbs and discuss various recipes for daily and safe use. SUNDAY, AUGUST 27 ~ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm "A Holistic and Herbal Approach to Dermatitis" During this talk we will cover various recipes for dermatitis and other skin complaints. We will discuss common contributing underlying causes, nutritional and environmental triggers and a route towards healing including specific herbal recipes and plants for itching, inflammation, rashes, eczema, hives and dermatitis both internal and topical application.
