Michael C. Altman, RH (AHG), CN, MIIS is a peer-reviewed professional member of the American Herbalists Guild and Certified Nutritionist. For over twenty years, he has served clients with a range of health conditions, while specializing in cancer. Michael operates SeattleCancerCareAlternatives.com serving a global clientele in person, by phone, and through teleconference. He helps people with optimizing cardiovascular health, supporting the GI, detoxification, surgery prep, hormonal balance, inflammation, sleep issues and more. Michael takes care to tailor an individualized approach to each person, since not only is each cancer different, but each cancer patient has a range of different needs based on their treatment. Michael reviews bloodwork, genetic testing, imaging and other information to make an informed decision about optimizing an herbal supplement, nutrition, dietary and lifestyle approach. Then, all the information is pieced together in a personal action plan, an easy to access Word document.
Michael understands the synergies of different herbs, foods and nutrients to achieve a superior treatment outcome and target the specific cancer. He also helps clients achieve a better quality of life—in part by helping them maintain their energy and immunological reserves—but also by minimizing the downside of conventional oncology treatment. He helps avoid or minimize side effects from chemotherapy, for example, and is able to discuss safe and effective supplementation with oncologists and other health professionals. Michael runs a mail-order dispensary supplying a wide range of his personally sourced clinical extract encapsulated formulas including The Four Chambers Cardiovascular products, liquid extract blends, and unique branded products for clients. Michael has started the Herbal Practitioner Buyers Club, which promotes a direct practitioner to patient clinical grade supplement supply chain, with a percentage of profits helping other herbalists and products companies grow their own practices and businesses. Michael believes strongly that people can reclaim their health with diet, lifestyle changes, and herbs once provided with the information and assistance needed. He has taught health, nutrition, and environment courses at Southern Oregon University since 2005 helping graduate thousands of nursing students and Health & PE majors. After being in the Pacific Northwest for 18 years Michael is currently in Delray Beach, Florida with his fiancé Heather, who is nursing supervisor at a local hospital. Michael enjoys hiking and wild harvesting herbs, stand-up paddle boarding, swimming, cycling and enjoying time with friends and family, while tirelessly researching, formulating and pushing for a more holistic health paradigm to benefit his clients. 2022 Presentations by Michael Altman
FRIDAY, AUGUST 19 ~ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm in Classroom Building B "Herbal Medicine for People with Cancer and Chronic Health Concerns" In this workshop, we’ll focus on a range of herbs and botanical protocols for how to further promote longevity and quality of life among people with cancer and other life-threatening chronic conditions. Most cancer patients experience a range of health issues and predictable side effects due to the use of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormonal and other conventional treatments. We’ll cover regional Northwest herbs, as well as concentrated herbal extracts and beneficial botanicals from various traditional healing systems to mitigate side effects and synergize with Rx meds for a range of conditions. We’ll go into detail, system by system, how to prepare clients and also keep additional treatment on the back burner, one of the key tenets to quality of life enhancement. One of the goals is to prepare community herbalists to perform a number of tasks for which conventional medicine comes up short. Key takeaways include regulating digestion and absorption, minimizing neuropathy, optimizing circulation and cardiovascular function, supporting the lymphatic system and improving fatigue and anemia. This class is appropriate for all levels of learners. SUNDAY, AUGUST 21 ~ 8:30 am - 10:00 am in Classroom Building B "Simple Fixes: Quick Results with Herbs for Common Conditions" A look at the plethora of issues that surround the actual dispensing of herbs and ideas. This class will not discuss diagnosis. For example, should you use a tincture, fluid extract or capsule? What dose is appropriate? A time to look at all the practical questions that we rarely discuss.
