FRIDAY, AUGUST 24 ~ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm ~ (Meet Outside of Bachelor Officers’ Quarters (BOQ) After Lunch) "A Plant Walk in the Woods of Whidbey Island"
SATURDAY, AUGUST 25 ~ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm in Auditorium A "The Language of Herbs" Being an herbalist goes beyond simply downloading facts and information. Instead we obtain the most profound results when we shift our reality to a more holistic paradigm. Luckily, no one can be told the language of plants. You have to experience it yourself! One way to do this is by understanding plant communications via their taste and their actions as well as our own internal responses. This class will explore many favorite plants through the lens of our senses to gain a better understanding of how herbs work.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 26 ~ 8:30 am - 10:00 am in Auditorium A "Herbs for Smokey Skies" With wildfire smoke increasingly encroaching on our skies, we can play an important role in our communities by turning to our plant allies for support. This class will look at safety practices for smokey skies, herbs to support our lungs as well as ways to mitigate the harm for the most susceptible populations.

August 28, Friday ~ 9:00 am – 10:30 am “Holistic Care for Back Pain” Back pain is one of the top reasons people visit their doctor, yet western medicine has few answers beyond pills and surgery. This class is going to look broadly at back pain, both acute and chronic, and discuss a variety of ways to help people to move beyond their pain. The presentation will include herbs, manual therapy and movement. Rosalee will combine her knowledge as an herbalist, Structural Medicine Specialist and massage therapist to round out this holistic approach to back pain.
August 29, Saturday ~ 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm “TheGift of Plants” Whether we live in the wilderness or in the city, we can enrich our interactions with the world around us by using the plants found there for food, medicine, shelter, clothing, and tools.. From the practical to the beautiful we will learn about the many gifts from plants growing all over North America. This demonstration includes a variety of props and stories that bring this topic alive.
August 30, Sunday ~ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm “Taste of Herbs” Our sense of taste is one of our most powerful herbal tools! In this class we will explore how herbal actions and energetics can be understood simply by their taste. We’ll learn which taste is nourishing and building, which taste goes to the lungs and which taste drains and detoxifies. Refining your own sense of taste helps you to understand your bio-regional herbs, detect the potency of herbs, and become more creative in substituting one herb for another.
